i2p.gitlab.favicon

Just some files for a possible favicon to use with the i2p gitlab.

Using the router console's icon as a basis I made 2 versions:

  • i2p-gitlab-letter-g - adding the letter G on top
  • i2p-gitlab-symbol - adding the GitLab symbol on top (with added black outline)

Formats:

  • favicon...xcf - The GIMP file including layers for possible edits/modifications
  • favicon...png - The exported png that can be used as a favicon
  • Screenshot...png - Screenshots of how it looks in FF (pinned tab aside pinned tab of the router console)

Note: I was not able to decisevely determine the license of the GitLab logo. It's modified here, but I did use the favicon as used by GitLab. Not sure about possible copyright/license implications.

Aside from that ... I realised that the router console's icon is using transparent background. This looks nice, as long as the background plays nicely. If I were to use a theme on the browser using green (as in the green dots), then the according parts of the icon would just disappear into the background, or?

I am not trying to critisise the icon here, but want to point out that the same is valid for G of the letter-version here, currently. The letter is in black so any dark background might not work well. I'm unsure about the actual impact (but assuming that black might affect more users than the green).

The logo-based version does not have this problem (to the same degree at least), as it uses the orange-ish colors of the icon with an additional black outline (which I felt needed to make it stand out). Could try an outline on the letter, but the icons are small and everthing "more" might make them less distinguishable.
